Join us Babcock Theater

at 6 pm on April 6, 2022

Every day our community makes many collective decisions that either improve or decrease the walkability of our community.

Walkability is a somewhat complex subject—it’s about a lot more than simply providing sidewalks.

Says City Billings City Councilmember Ed Gulick, “I know as a previous Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee member that I struggled a bit to figure out how Billings and surrounding areas could be safer for residents walking or biking until I came across the book Walkable City Rules.”

City Planner Jeff Speck, who is the author of Walkable City and Walkable City Rules, will be giving a free public presentation at the Babcock Theater at 6 pm on April 6, 2022.

He will describe the economic, environmental, and epidemiological motivations for making more walkable communities. Then he’ll focus on how to make communities more walkable by outlining and elucidating the General Theory of Walkability, which insists that, in order to be truly walkable, built environments must make walking useful, safe, comfortable, and interesting.
