A big round of applause is due the City of Billings for developing the trail along the BBWA canal between 24th St. and 21st!

The trail really begins from Woody Drive, the road just east of West Park Village and follows the BBWA canal east, ending at Solomon Ave. From there, you can ride over the bridge and through the east trails at Rose Park to tie into the neighborhood bikeway, which will take you all the way to 9th Avenue North and North Park.

“I rode this route a few weeks after it was completed and already crossed paths with walkers and runners enjoying the trail,” says Kristi Drake, Billings TrailNet’s executive director.

“I was really delighted to have neighbors along the Avenue D neighborhood bikeway waving out their windows,” she adds. “It was a Mayberry experience!”

The neighborhood bikeway was created in 2021 to connect east Billings with the West End, and makes a big difference as a safe, quiet street to walk, bike or roll across the city.

Let’s celebrate the city’s efforts at making nonmotorized transportation safe, easy and fun! Join us for the BBWA Canal Connection Trail Ribbon Cutting event Wednesday, August 17 at 11 am at Woody Dr. and Solomon Ave.

Enjoy free ice cream and join or watch a speed walking race, where there will be prizes!
