Position Summary:
This position is responsible for cultivating and stewarding community and donor relationships, creating, coordinating, implementing and managing fundraising activity, representing our organization to the greater community through the development and maintenance of partnerships throughout our community, and promoting corporate and individual giving.
Additionally, this position plays a significant role in planning our main fundraiser, Ales for Trails.
In this position you will be independently responsible for leading a variety of outreach projects and events. You will also be responsible for all monthly and weekly functions of the membership program, and manage the volunteer program.
We are looking for 1 full time employee and possibly 1 part time employee who will perform a supporting role in fulfilling the following functions:
Fundraising
- Work with Executive Director and Fundraising Committee to create yearly fundraising plan, outlining goals, metrics and strategies for fiscal growth
- Oversee, plan and execute a variety of annual fundraising initiatives to achieve revenue goals with a strong focus on business partnership and individual donor development
- Work with Executive Director to identify, solicit, cultivate, and steward current and prospective individual, corporate, and charitable partners through the development and implementation of a robust partnership program
- Work with the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee to identify prospective major donors and direct into the prospect pipeline for qualification, solicitation, and cultivation
- Ensure excellent stewardship and engagement of broad-base and mid-level donors
- Attend a variety of community networking and outreach events on behalf of Billings TrailNet
- Work cooperatively with Executive Director, volunteers and Board of Directors to keep donors and supporters engaged and informed of program success
Event Planning
- Coordinate with Executive Director, volunteers and Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies to expand opportunities for giving through several community-wide fundraising efforts including Ales for Trails and the Membership Appreciation Event
- Plan, direct, and coordinate vendor responsibilities for several annual fundraising events throughout the year
- Organize and promote Billings TrailNet’s fundraising events including Ales for Trails, the Tour de Fleur, the Annual Meeting and Membership Appreciation Event, and other outreach events
- February- Membership Kick Off
- June- Tour de Fleur (flower-themed bicycle ride)
- May/June- Annual Meeting and Trail Summit
- September- Ales for Trails
- November- Membership Appreciation Event
- Support Events Committee by promoting and organizing monthly membership events
- Organize volunteers for event support/staffing
- Manage up to 200 volunteers, including recruiting for fundraising, events, and membership activities
Promotion
- Inform public through e-newsletter, website updates and media outreach
- Work with graphic designer and social media volunteer to promote corporate members
Donor and Volunteer Tracking
- Manage donor stewardship program for new donors, sustaining (monthly) donors and renewing donors
- We currently have an office volunteer who processes donations and generates thank you letters, monthly pledge reminders, and other complex data merges and mailings. The Development and Marketing Manager is expected to learn the functions of the constituent relationship management software (Bonterra/Network for Good), and perform your own reports.
- Ensure donor records, database clean-up, donor reports and tracking are accomplished.
Training and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in an honest, caring, respectful and responsible manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- 3+ years in nonprofit marketing, development, fundraising, event planning or outreach;
- Demonstrated experience in professional relationship building; and the desire to cultivate relationships and interactions with members;
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, emotional intelligence, problem solving, and teamwork skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Ability to lead other individuals and assign tasks; oversee projects while upholding a positive culture;
- Strong oral communication skills including public speaking, customer service and/or public relations;
- Some flexibility in schedule;
- Understanding of the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion.
