Donnette Roberts oversees three Anytime Fitness locations in Billings, and is a strong supporter of BikeNet and the trail system. In addition to being a corporate member of BikeNet, Anytime Fitness is also a long-time sponsor Ales for Trails.

Donnette Anytime“The trails attract seniors, families and people walking their dogs. People are more apt to be physically active and get fresh air when they can bring their family,” explains Donnette, “and the trails provide a safe path, away from traffic, for outdoor exercise.”

Health and fitness are important to Donnette, and she appreciates the trails for making fitness available to everyone: young and old, at all income and fitness levels.

“And they’re important to the growth of Billings,” she adds, “BikeNet is working to connect the loop. It’s a huge asset to have something like that.” Donnette is referring to the Marathon Loop: a 26.2 mile path encircling Billings, which is missing just three segments until it is complete.

Donnette notes the progress of the trail system since it first opened years ago. “I took my kids roller blading on the little section on Mary Street, and look where we are (with the trail system) now!”

As a native of Billings, the natural environment surrounding our city is close to Donnette’s heart. Her family owns land in north Billings near Mary Street and has donated much of it to Yellowstone River Parks Association to preserve the area and open it as a community recreation area. Now known as Dover Park, or “Five Mile,” Donnette remembers many years of exploring and adventures on her family’s land. “My great grandfather is one of the first settlers there, and it was named after my great-great grandfather,” Donnette notes.

Dover Park is expected to be opened to the public sometime in 2016.
